Todas sabemos que trabajar desde casa tiene sus beneficios: flexibilidad, incremento de la productividad, ahorras en tu almuerzo etc. Y en los ultimos años compañias grandes han estado adoptando el famoso"home-office", en sus politicas e incluso hacerlos trabajos virtuales.
Yo trabajo desde mi casa por desicion, aparte de las ventajas que ya nomine, puedo tener mas tiempo de calidad con mi hija, y eso no tiene precio. Pero que pasa cuando estamos demasiado comodas y ya no nos importa tanto la apariencia? aunque te cueste creerlo esto podria tener un impacto negativo en nuestra productividad...
1. Sal de tu pijama:: Yo se que cuando estas en tu casa, no hay mucho que hacer por la apariencia. Pero no te quedes en pijama, el levantarte, bañarte y vestirte te dara otro sentido de productividad no solo en el trabajo sino contigo misma. Tengo tres puntos para que tomemos la idea:
- Mientras pensamos que el vestirnos solo sera una perdida de tiempo, de hecho dejamos de ver que sería algo muy bueno porque dejamos de ser poco porductivas. Cuando tomamos un tiempo para aunque sea armar un outfit casual esto nos indica que el dia de trabajo esta comenzando. Quedarnos en pijamas solo nos hara sentir mas aguadas. Incluso nos vamos a querer quedar en la cama o en el sofa, de repente ya encendimos la TV y hasta tomamos una siesta antes del almuerzo. Y hay mucho por hacer todos los dias...
- Cuando olvidamos prepararnos para el dia, la linea entre tu vida y el trabajo puede ser un tanto borrosa. La vida ahora llena de tecnologia esta constantemenete en nuestros dedos y esto ha convertido el trabajo-vida en una mezcla de trabajo-vida. Mientras esto puede facilitar cosas para muchos de nosotros por disfrutar de agedas de trabajo flexibles, andar en pijama todo el dia puede facilitarnos posponer planificaciones y/o proyectos para despues, o en la noche cuando ese tiempo podria aprovecharse para pasarlo con amigos o familaires.
- Al verte bien, te sientes bien. Esto puede sonar a cliché, pero es cierto. Cuando estas arreglada tu autoestima sube, y esto aumenta tu productividad. Tomate unos 15 minutos para quitarte las pijamas, y te sentiras mas segura no solo en la apariencia sino tambien en tus metas.
2. Lavate la cara:: Esto tiene que ver con el punto anterior, y no me refiero solo a lavarte la cara, sino a tomar un baño, esta rutina es reparadora para muchas y hasta energizante.
3. Resuelve tu horario:: Aqui es bueno contestarte a que hora eres mas productiva? Y, que tipo de energias debes de invertir en ciertas actividades? Por ejemplo yo, cuando ustedes leen uno de mis articulos, probablemente fue lo primero que hice por la mañana, porque estoy fresca, mis ideas son mejores, es por la mañana en la que he descubierto que me encuentro en mi punto mas creativo. Así que escribir artículos, redactar documentos etc. son cosas que hago cuando mi mente esta con toda su capacidad. Los trabajos mecanicos, como sellar y firmar documentos, o buscar ideas para inspirarme son cosas que dejo para despues porque no requieren de toda mi capacidad. Las reuniones tambien las dejo para la tarde ya que generalmente son dialogos entre dos personas, y acuerdos que entre varios son mas faciles de tomar.
4. Darle seguimiento a tu tiempo:: Esto puede ser guiado por un horario, bien establecido, pero si no tienes ni idea de como se te va tu tiempo te dire lo que yo hice para rastrearlo, hace varios meses escribí por todo un mes una serie de bitacoras en las que escribia la fecha - actividad - hora de inicio - hora de termino, al cabo de un mes tenia muy bien descrito lo que eran mis dias y los cambios que debia hacer para hacerlos mas productivos, así que ahora tengo horarios y los cumplo, es la manera perfecta de no desperdiciar el tiempo. Esto no quiere decir que no debemos ser flexibles, hay situaciones que nos obligan a veces a posponer o rediseñar.
5. Sigue aprendiendo:: Esto es algo que toda la vida mi papa me ha enseñado con la practica y me repite cada vez que puede, mi papa tiene 56 años y aun sigue estudiando... Y esto es una gran verdad, aun cuando estamos trabajando desde casa ahora la tecnologia nos facilita todo para seguir preparandonos y mantenernos al tanto de lo que acontece en el mundo, porque no sabemos si en algun momento nos sera util.

But once this schedule becomes habit, it’s easy to get too comfortable. When you realize that the only person that’s going to see you that day is your pet, it’s easy to roll out of bed, maybe brush your teeth, and start working for the day–without giving any thought to your appearance.
I work from my home by my own decision, besides the advantages I already wrote, I can have more quality time with my daughter and that´is priceless. But what happens when we are too comfortable and we don´t care for our appearance? Believe it or not this could have a negative impact on our productivity...
1.I know when you stay at home there´s not much to do with our appearance. But don´t stay in pjs, get up, take a shower and get dress will give you another sense of productivity not only at work but to yourself. I have 3 points to get into the idea:
- While you may think not wasting time on getting dressed in the morning could be a good thing, it can actually end up making you less productive. When you take the time to even put on a casual outfit, it signals that your work day is starting. Staying in your pajamas just makes the day feel like one big blur. And then if you’re in pjs, you might as well be lounging in your bed or on the couch. Then before you know it the TV’s on and nap time hits before lunch. So much for getting ahead today.
- When you forgot getting ready for the day ahead, the line between work and personal life can get blurry. We live in a world where technology is constantly at our fingertips, which has evolved work-life balance into more of a work-life blend. While this can be easier for many of us who enjoy flexible work schedules, lounging around in pajamas all day makes it much easier to postpone projects and plan to do them later at night when you could be spending time with friends or family.
- When you look good, you feel good. It may be a cliché, but it’s true. When you feel put together, you have a higher self-esteem, which can lead to increased productivity. Take just 15 minutes to change out of your pajamas, and you’ll feel more confident not only in your appearance, but in what you can accomplish as well.
2. Wash your face: This has to do with the previous point, and I don´t mean just washing your face, but to take a bath, this routine is restorative for many and even energizing.
3. Figure out your schedule:: This is a good point to answer yourself when are you most productive? And what kind of energies you need to invest in certain activities? For example, when you are reading one of my articles, it was probably the first thing I did in the morning, because I'm fresh, my ideas are better, it's by the morning where I´ve discovered I´m in my most creative point of my days. So writing articles, writing documents etc. are things I do when my mind is at my fullest capacity. The mechanical work such as sealing and signing documents, or find inspiration are things I leave for later because it doesn´t require my full capabilities. I also leave meetings for the afternoon ´cause usually are dialogues between two people, and agreements among two or more are easier to take.
4. Track your time:: This can be guided by a schedule, well established, but if you have no idea where your time is going now I will tell you what I did to track it. Months ago I wrote for a month a series of diaries, I wrote the date - activity - start time - finish, and after a month I had well tracked my days and the change I should do to make them more productive, so now I have a schedule and l make it happen, is the perfect way for not waste time. This doesn´t mean we should not be flexibles, there are situations that sometimes forces us to postpone or redesign.
5. Keep learning:: This is something my dad has taught me with the practice and he still repeated whenever he can, my dad is 56 years old and he´s still studying... This is true, ´cause even when we´re working from home now technology makes us all really to easy to keep abreast of what´s happening in the world or what we need to know, because we don´t know if it will be useful at some point.
